Dunkin' worms, Belizean style

No time to fish really...

But surely I can at least wet a line? Panfish supper, maybe?

Rain is on the horizon. Don't waste time.

A quick paddle with the kayak to the dock at the end of the canal. Shrimp on a circle hook and a stainless steel leader.

Cast toward the dock.

Blam!

A tiny mangrove snapper is caught and released.

Blam!

A small barracuda carries the line under the dock. Horse him out, wait until he has surged out his energy against the light tackle, then gingerly pluck the hook out of his toothy mouth. This one is dinner.

Blam! Blam! Blam!

Mutton snapper, mangrove snapper, jack crevalle. All small. All released.

Blam!

Mangrove snapper. Big enough. The second course.

The rain has arrived. The rod is shipped. The paddle comes out and fourty minutes well spent ends with a short push through the rain back to the house.

Thank you, Placencia Lagoon.

Sounds like great fun Tim. You need to fish like that more often, no excuses. It's your duty as a sportsman.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

I'm not sure if fishing is a "duty", but it does keep the mental machinery oiled.

See you on the river.
